Getting Married in
County Monaghan?
If you're planning your wedding in County Monaghan, you're practically on my doorstep!
I'm based just outside Dundalk, so Monaghan is a county I know well, and it's always lovely to conduct a wedding ceremony somewhere so close to home.
From beautiful country estates and historic castles to welcoming hotels and smaller, more intimate settings, Monaghan has some wonderful places to celebrate.
But wherever you've chosen to get married, I believe your ceremony should be every bit as special as the setting.
I'm Karen, a wedding celebrant and registered solemniser, and I create personalised, legally recognised wedding ceremonies throughout County Monaghan.
Whether you're dreaming of something romantic and heartfelt, a relaxed ceremony with a few laughs, or a lovely mixture of both, we'll work together to make it happen.
And if you're sitting there thinking, we haven't a clue what we want for our ceremony yet, don't worry!
That's perfectly normal, and it's exactly why I'm here.
I'll guide you through your options, help you work out what feels right for you both and make sure the whole experience is enjoyable from the very beginning.
Because planning your wedding ceremony shouldn't feel like another job on your already very long wedding to-do list!
Some Lovely Places to Get Married in Monaghan
County Monaghan might not be the biggest county in Ireland, but it certainly has some lovely wedding venues!
There's Castle Leslie Estate in Glaslough, with its beautiful grounds, historic buildings and gorgeous surroundings. Whether you're planning a grand celebration or something a little more intimate, it's a wonderful setting for a wedding.
Nuremore Estate by McGettigan's in Carrickmacross is another lovely wedding venue, with its beautiful grounds and countryside setting. It's a wonderful option for couples planning their wedding in County Monaghan.
Hillgrove Hotel in Monaghan town is another popular choice, particularly for couples who want a lively celebration with plenty of family and friends.
And if you're looking for somewhere in the heart of Monaghan town, there's Four Seasons Hotel and Westenra Arms Hotel, both well-known venues for wedding celebrations.
But of course, you don't have to get married in a hotel or country estate!
Perhaps you've chosen a smaller venue, somewhere outdoors or a place that means something special to you both.
Wherever you're planning to say your vows, I'd love to help you create a ceremony that feels just right for you.
Because while the venue provides the setting, it's your ceremony that brings everyone together to celebrate the two of you.
A Ceremony That Feels Like You
There's no rule that says your wedding ceremony has to be serious from beginning to end. And there's certainly no rule that says it has to be full of readings, rituals or traditions that don't mean anything to you!
Some couples love a romantic ceremony with a few happy tears. Others want their guests laughing along with them. And plenty want a bit of everything.
That's what I love about creating personal wedding ceremonies. We get to work out what suits the two of you.
When you book me for your wedding in County Monaghan, we'll have a proper chat about what you're imagining. I'll get to know you both, listen to your ideas and help you put everything together.
Maybe you'd love to include your love story, exchange personal vows or have your children involved. Perhaps you'd like a handfasting, unity candle or another symbolic ritual.
Or maybe you just want to keep things simple.
And that's absolutely fine too!
As a registered solemniser, I can conduct your legal wedding ceremony in County Monaghan, so you can have a ceremony that's personal to you while also taking care of the legal declarations.
I'll guide you through the whole process, from our first conversation to the wedding day itself, so you'll always know what's happening and what comes next.
Because the best ceremonies aren't necessarily the longest or the fanciest. They're the ones that feel right for the couple getting married.
Someone Who Knows Weddings Inside Out
I've spent most of my working life looking after people, and weddings have been a big part of that.
With over 30 years in hospitality, including more than 21 years at Ballymascanlon House Hotel, I've been involved in hundreds of weddings over the years.
I've worked as a wedding coordinator, managed a busy hotel and dealt with just about every little surprise a wedding day can throw at you!
And while my role these days is conducting your ceremony, all that experience comes with me.
I know how important it is to have someone who can keep things organised without making a fuss, put nervous couples at ease and make sure everyone knows what's happening.
I'll arrive in plenty of time, check that everything is ready and look after the details of your ceremony so you don't have to.
And if something unexpected happens?
Well, after all these years, I've usually seen something similar before!
What matters most to me is that you feel comfortable, relaxed and genuinely looked after.
Because you should be enjoying every moment of getting married, not worrying about who's doing what!

I'd Love to Hear From You!
Whether you're getting married at Castle Leslie, Nuremore Estate, one of Monaghan's lovely hotels or somewhere completely different, I'd love to hear what you've got planned.

Either way, you're very welcome to get in touch!
Tell me a little about yourselves, where and when you're getting married and what you're hoping for. I'll be happy to explain how I work, answer your questions and help you explore the different options for your ceremony.
