Celebrating Life's
Special Moments
Not every special occasion involves a wedding!
From welcoming a new baby into the family to celebrating the years you've shared together, there are plenty of lovely reasons to bring the people closest to you together.
Whether you're planning a baby naming ceremony, renewing your wedding vows or celebrating your relationship with a commitment ceremony, I'll work with you to create something personal, relaxed and meaningful.
There's no set way of doing things. We'll have a chat about what you have in mind, and together we'll create a ceremony that feels right for you.
Baby Naming Ceremonies
Welcoming a new baby or child into your family is a lovely reason to bring everyone together.
A naming ceremony is a relaxed, personal way to celebrate your little one, surrounded by the people who'll play an important part in their life.
Whether you'd like to include grandparents, guideparents or other family members, we'll create a ceremony that's meaningful to you.
Vow Renewals
Whether you've been married for five years, twenty-five years or fifty, renewing your wedding vows is a lovely way to celebrate everything you've shared together.
It might be a special anniversary, an opportunity to celebrate with family and friends, or simply something you've always wanted to do.
Your ceremony can be as relaxed or as personal as you like, with the opportunity to exchange vows again and include the people who mean the most to you.
Commitment Ceremony
You don't have to get legally married to celebrate your love and commitment to one another.
A commitment ceremony gives you the opportunity to celebrate your relationship in a way that feels right for you, without the legal formalities of marriage.
Whether you're planning an intimate ceremony for just the two of you or a celebration surrounded by family and friends, we'll create something personal, relaxed and meaningful.
You can exchange vows, include symbolic rituals or involve the people closest to you. It's entirely up to you.
Baby Naming Ceremonies
Welcoming a new baby or child into your family is something worth celebrating, and a naming ceremony is a lovely way to mark the occasion.
Unlike a christening, a naming ceremony doesn't have to follow any particular religious tradition. It's an opportunity to bring family and friends together, celebrate your little one and recognise the important people who'll be part of their life.
Every family is different, so there's no set format to follow. Whether you'd like something simple and relaxed at home, a gathering in your garden or a celebration at a venue, we'll create a ceremony that suits your family.
You might like to involve grandparents, siblings or chosen guideparents, include a favourite reading or add a symbolic element such as a unity candle or wishing stones.
I'll work with you to create a personal ceremony that welcomes your little one and includes the people who matter most to you.
Making the Ceremony Your Own
A baby naming ceremony can be as simple or as personal as you'd like. There's no set format, and we'll work together to decide what you'd like to include.
We might begin by welcoming everyone and sharing a few words about your little one and what this occasion means to your family.
Parents can make their own promises to their child, while grandparents, siblings or chosen guideparents can be included in the ceremony too.
You might also like to include a reading, a favourite piece of music or a symbolic ritual, such as wishing stones, a unity candle or a time capsule filled with little keepsakes and messages for your child to open when they're older.
And of course, we can include the actual naming of your child as a special part of the ceremony.
The important thing is that it feels comfortable, relaxed and right for your family.

A Few Things to Know
Where can we hold a naming ceremony?
Naming ceremonies can take place in your home, garden, a hotel or another location that's special to your family. We'll have a chat about what you're planning and find an arrangement that works for everyone.
How long does a naming ceremony last?
Most naming ceremonies last approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on what you'd like to include and how many family members are taking part.
Do we need to follow any religious traditions?
Not at all. A naming ceremony can be completely non-religious, or we can include personal or family traditions that are important to you. It's entirely your choice.
Is a naming ceremony legally recognised?
A naming ceremony is a symbolic celebration rather than a legal registration. It doesn't replace registering your child's birth.

Vow Renewal Ceremonies
Some promises are worth making all over again.
Whether you've been married for five years, twenty-five years or fifty years, renewing your wedding vows is a lovely way to celebrate your marriage and everything you've shared together.
You might be marking a special anniversary, celebrating a milestone or simply wanting to bring family and friends together for an occasion that's all about the two of you.
Your vow renewal can be as relaxed or as traditional as you'd like. You might want to exchange new vows, include your children or grandchildren, revisit parts of your original wedding ceremony or do something completely different this time around.
There's no set format and no right or wrong way to celebrate.
I'll work with you to create a ceremony that reflects your relationship, your personalities and the years you've spent together.
Making Your Vow Renewal Personal
One of the lovely things about renewing your vows is that there are no rules about what your ceremony should look like.
You might choose to exchange new vows, reflecting on the years you've been married and the promises you'd like to make to each other today.
Some couples like to exchange rings again, while others prefer to include a symbolic element such as a unity candle, handfasting or time capsule.
If you have children or grandchildren, we can find a lovely way to involve them too, whether that's through a reading, a special role in the ceremony or simply sharing a few words about what family means to you.
And if there's something you loved about your original wedding ceremony, we can bring a little of that into your vow renewal.
Equally, if your wedding day was very traditional and you'd love to do things differently this time, that's absolutely fine too!
It's your celebration, and we'll make sure it reflects the two of you and the marriage you're celebrating.

Not at all! Whether you're celebrating your first anniversary, your silver wedding anniversary or simply feel it's the right time, you can renew your vows whenever you like.
Where can we hold our vow renewal?
Almost anywhere that suits you! It could be a hotel, a garden, your own home or somewhere that holds special memories for you both. We'll have a chat about your plans and what would work best.
Can we involve our children or grandchildren?
Absolutely! Many couples love including their children or grandchildren in their vow renewal. We can involve them through readings, symbolic rituals or other little touches that make the ceremony personal to your family.
Is a vow renewal legally binding?

Whether it's a quiet celebration with just the two of you or a gathering with family and friends, we'll create a ceremony that feels right for you.
You don't need a marriage certificate to celebrate your commitment to each other.
A commitment ceremony is a lovely way for two people to celebrate their relationship and make personal promises to one another, without the legal formalities of marriage.
There are lots of reasons why couples choose a commitment ceremony. Perhaps marriage isn't something you're interested in, maybe you've already completed the legal paperwork elsewhere, or perhaps you'd simply love to celebrate your relationship with the people closest to you.
Whatever your reasons, your ceremony can be every bit as personal, romantic and meaningful as a wedding ceremony.
You can exchange vows and rings, include readings or music, involve family and friends, or add a symbolic ritual such as handfasting or a unity candle.
There's no set format to follow, and you don't have to explain or justify your reasons for choosing a commitment ceremony.
I'll work with you to create something that reflects your relationship, your personalities and what this occasion means to you both.

Making Your Commitment Ceremony Personal
One of the lovely things about a commitment ceremony is the freedom to celebrate your relationship exactly as you'd like.
You might want a ceremony that feels very much like a wedding, complete with an entrance, personal vows, an exchange of rings and a few favourite readings.
Or perhaps you'd prefer something smaller and more relaxed, with just the two of you and a handful of people who mean the most to you.
We can include symbolic elements such as handfasting, a unity candle, sand blending or a ring warming ceremony. These can be lovely ways to involve family and friends or add something particularly personal to the occasion.
You can also choose music that means something to you, invite someone special to share a reading or include a few words about your relationship and how you came to be celebrating this day.
There's no right or wrong way to do it. What matters is creating a ceremony that feels comfortable, personal and right for you both.
What's Included
- An initial consultation to chat about your relationship and the ceremony you have in mind.
- A personalised questionnaire to help me get to know you both.
- A commitment ceremony script written especially for you.
- Two ceremony drafts for review and amendments.
- Guidance with writing personal vows, exchanging rings and choosing readings.
- Help choosing symbolic rituals or ceremony enhancements.
- The opportunity to involve family members, children or friends.
- Ongoing communication and support throughout the planning process.
- Conducting your commitment ceremony at your chosen location.
Every ceremony I create is personal to the couple. I don't use a standard script and simply change the names.
We'll work together to create something that reflects your relationship and the way you'd like to celebrate it.
A Few Things to Know
Is a commitment ceremony legally binding?
No. A commitment ceremony is a symbolic celebration and doesn't create a legal marriage or civil partnership.
If you'd like to be legally married, I can also explain the options available to you as a registered solemniser in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Can we exchange vows and rings?
Absolutely! You can exchange personal promises, rings or both. We can make this part of the ceremony as simple or as personal as you'd like.
Where can we hold a commitment ceremony?
Commitment ceremonies can take place in hotels, gardens, private homes, outdoor locations or somewhere that has particular meaning to you both.
Because there's no legal marriage taking place, you generally have more flexibility when choosing your ceremony location, subject to permission from the venue or landowner.
Can we include family and friends?
Of course. You might like someone to give a reading, involve your children in a symbolic ritual or invite family members to take part in another way.
Equally, if you'd prefer something private with just the two of you, that's absolutely fine too.
Is a commitment ceremony only for couples who don't want to get married?
Not at all.
Some couples choose a commitment ceremony because they don't want a legal marriage. Others have already completed their legal marriage separately and would like a personal celebration with family and friends.
Whatever your circumstances, we'll create a ceremony that suits you both.
