Getting Married in
County Derry?

Planning your wedding in County Derry? You've certainly got some beautiful places to choose from!

From the historic city of Derry to the lovely countryside, country houses and coastal settings throughout the county, there's plenty of choice when it comes to finding somewhere special to celebrate.

I'm Karen, a wedding celebrant and registered officiant based in Dundalk, County Louth, and I travel throughout Northern Ireland creating personal, relaxed and legally recognised wedding ceremonies.

For me, one of the nicest parts of being a celebrant is getting to know the two people standing in front of me.

I love hearing how you met, what makes you laugh, the things you enjoy together and all those little details that make your relationship yours.

Because those are the things that can turn a wedding ceremony into something genuinely personal.

Whether you'd love a romantic ceremony with a few heartfelt moments, something relaxed with plenty of smiles, or a lovely mixture of both, we'll create something that feels natural and comfortable for you.

And don't worry if you haven't a clue where to begin!

I'll guide you through the different options, help you decide what you'd like to include and write a ceremony especially for the two of you.

I'm also registered with the General Register Office in Northern Ireland, so I can conduct legally recognised religious/belief wedding ceremonies and guide you through the legal requirements.

Most importantly, I want you to enjoy your ceremony, feel completely at ease and have a few lovely memories to look back on afterwards.

Some Lovely Places to Get Married in County Derry

County Derry has some beautiful places to get married, whether you're dreaming of a country house wedding, an elegant hotel celebration or somewhere with a little history and character.

Beech Hill Country House, just outside Derry city, is a lovely choice for couples who love the charm of a historic country house, with beautiful grounds and a relaxed atmosphere.

Then there's Ballyscullion Park, near Bellaghy, with its impressive Georgian house, gardens and beautiful surroundings. It's certainly somewhere that makes an impression!

Drenagh Estate, near Limavady, is another gorgeous setting, with its historic house, gardens and stunning countryside backdrop.

For couples who love the idea of a hotel wedding, The Everglades Hotel in Derry offers an elegant setting, while Roe Park Resort in Limavady is another beautiful option, with its lovely grounds, countryside views and relaxed atmosphere.

And if you'd prefer somewhere along the north coast, The Lodge Hotel in Coleraine is another venue worth considering.

Of course, you might already have your heart set on somewhere completely different, and that's absolutely fine too.

Whether you're planning a big celebration with all your family and friends or something smaller and more intimate, I'd love to help you create a ceremony that feels right for the two of you.

Because while finding the perfect venue is exciting, it's those personal moments during your ceremony that you'll remember long after the day itself.

Your Day, Your Ceremony, Your Way

Your wedding ceremony is one of the few moments in the day when everything really is about the two of you.

And I think it should feel that way!

You might want something romantic and heartfelt, with a few lovely personal touches. Or perhaps you're the kind of couple who'd prefer a relaxed ceremony, a little humour and plenty of smiles.

There's no right or wrong way to do it.

We'll talk about what matters to you, the people you'd like to involve and the little details that make your relationship special.

Perhaps you'd love a handfasting, a unity candle or a meaningful reading. Maybe you'd like your children to have a part in the ceremony. Or perhaps you'd prefer to keep everything simple, with your vows and rings taking centre stage.

Whatever you decide, I'll write your ceremony personally, making sure it reflects who you are as a couple rather than following a standard script.

And on your wedding day, I'll be there to guide you through everything, so you can relax, enjoy the moment and concentrate on each other.

Because those few minutes standing together, making your promises in front of the people you love, deserve to be every bit as lovely as you've imagined.

A Little Experience Makes a Big Difference

I've spent more than 30 years working in hospitality, including over 21 years at Ballymascanlon, where I started as Wedding Coordinator before going on to become General Manager.

So it's fair to say I've seen a wedding or two over the years!

I've looked after couples, worked alongside wedding suppliers, managed busy wedding days and dealt with those unexpected little moments that nobody could have planned for.

And one thing I've learned is that couples remember how they felt on their wedding day just as much as everything that happened.

That's something I carry with me into every ceremony I conduct.

I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, confident that everything is organised and reassured that there's someone looking after you who knows exactly what they're doing.

I'll make sure your ceremony is carefully prepared, that everyone involved knows their part and that you both feel relaxed when the moment arrives.

Whether you're getting married in Derry city, Limavady, Coleraine or somewhere in the beautiful County Derry countryside, you'll have my experience, attention and care from our first conversation right through to your wedding day.

And if something doesn't go quite according to plan? Well, after all those years in weddings, it takes quite a lot to faze me!
