Getting Married in
County Louth?
There's something particularly lovely about conducting wedding ceremonies close to home, and County Louth will always be a special place for me.
I'm based in Dundalk, and after spending more than 21 years working at Ballymascanlon House Hotel, I've been involved in more weddings around this part of the country than I could possibly count!
I've seen the excitement, the nerves, the happy tears and the occasional little hiccup that nobody planned for. And after all those years, I still love being part of someone's wedding day.
These days, I'm a wedding celebrant and registered solemniser, creating personalised and legally recognised wedding ceremonies throughout County Louth.
Whether you're planning a big celebration in one of Louth's beautiful wedding venues, a relaxed outdoor ceremony or something smaller with your closest family and friends, I'd love to hear what you have in mind.
Your ceremony can be romantic, heartfelt, relaxed, full of laughter or a lovely mixture of everything.
And if you're not quite sure what you'd like yet, that's absolutely fine too.
We'll have a chat, explore your options and put together something that feels completely natural to you both.
Because after all these years working with wedding couples, one thing I know for certain is that no two weddings are ever quite the same!
Some Lovely Places to Get Married
in Louth
When it comes to wedding venues in County Louth, I'm probably a little biased because this is home!
And after spending so many years working in the local wedding industry, I've come to know quite a few of the wonderful places couples choose to celebrate.
Ballymascanlon Hotel & Golf Resort in Dundalk will always be particularly close to my heart. I spent more than 21 years working there, starting back when it was known as Ballymascanlon House Hotel. During that time, I worked as a wedding coordinator and later as General Manager, so it's fair to say I know a thing or two about weddings at Ballymascanlon!
Then there's Darver Castle, with its beautiful grounds and historic charm, and Bellingham Castle in Castlebellingham, another gorgeous setting for a wedding celebration.
Segrave Barns near Dunany is a lovely choice for couples who prefer a more relaxed, rustic atmosphere. I've had the pleasure of conducting wedding ceremonies there, and it's a wonderful setting.
Closer to home, The Fairways Hotel in Dundalk and The Carrickdale Hotel are also popular choices for couples planning their wedding celebrations.
Four Seasons Hotel Carlingford is another wonderful wedding venue, with beautiful views of Carlingford Lough and the Cooley Mountains. And for couples looking for something a little more intimate, there's Ghan House, a gorgeous Georgian country house with lovely gardens, wonderful food and plenty of character.
But whether you've chosen one of Louth's well-known wedding venues or somewhere a little more unusual, I'd love to help you create a ceremony that feels right for you.
Because a beautiful venue is lovely, but it's the people and the moments that make a wedding memorable.
Your Wedding, Your Ceremony, Your Way
After all my years working with wedding couples, there's one thing I've learned - everyone has their own idea of what makes a lovely wedding ceremony.
Some couples want something romantic and heartfelt, with a few happy tears along the way. Others want a relaxed atmosphere, plenty of smiles and a little humour thrown in. And most couples want a bit of both!
That's exactly why I love creating personal ceremonies.
When you book me for your wedding in County Louth, we'll have a proper chat about the two of you, what matters to you and how you'd like your ceremony to feel.
Perhaps you'd love to include your love story, write your own vows or involve your children or other family members. Maybe a handfasting, unity candle or another symbolic ritual appeals to you.
Or perhaps you'd prefer to keep everything simple, without lots of extras.
That's absolutely fine too.
As a registered solemniser, I can conduct your legal wedding ceremony in County Louth, so you can have a ceremony that's personal to you while also taking care of the legal declarations.
And if you're not sure where to begin, don't worry. I'll guide you through your options, explain how everything works and help you put together a ceremony that feels comfortable and natural.
Because your ceremony should sound like the two of you, not something that's been written for somebody else.
Experience That Makes a Difference
When you've spent more than 30 years working in hospitality, you get fairly good at reading a room, thinking on your feet and keeping calm when things don't go quite according to plan!
And after more than 21 years at Ballymascanlon, first as a wedding coordinator and later as General Manager, I've certainly had plenty of practice.
I've looked after hundreds of wedding couples over the years, and one thing I've always believed is that people should feel genuinely looked after, not just another name in the diary.
That's something I've carried with me into my work as a wedding celebrant.
I'll arrive in plenty of time, check that everything is ready for your ceremony and make sure everyone involved knows what they're doing.
I'll help settle those last-minute nerves, keep things running smoothly and deal with any little surprises without making a fuss.
And while I'm looking after all of that, you can concentrate on enjoying yourselves.
Because when you're standing there together, about to make your legal declarations and exchange your vows, you shouldn't have to worry about anything else.
That's what I want every couple to feel - relaxed, comfortable and completely looked after.
If you're planning your wedding in County Louth, I'd love to hear what you've got in mind!
Whether you're getting married at Ballymascanlon, Darver Castle, Bellingham Castle, somewhere in beautiful Carlingford or a completely different venue, I'd be delighted to be part of your day.
You might have everything organised and just need someone to conduct your ceremony. Or perhaps you're only starting to plan and haven't a clue what your ceremony could look like yet.
Either way, that's absolutely fine!
I'm always happy to have a chat, answer your questions and talk you through the different options.
Being based in Dundalk means I'm never too far away, and having spent so many years working with wedding couples in County Louth, you'll be dealing with someone who knows the area and understands how weddings work.
So tell me a little about yourselves, your wedding date and what you're hoping for.
I'd love to help you create a ceremony that you'll both really enjoy.
