Getting Married in
County Down?

Planning your wedding in County Down? Well, you're not too far from me at all!

I'm based in Dundalk, so travelling into County Down for a wedding is something I'm always happy to do. And with its beautiful coastline, countryside, historic estates and gorgeous wedding venues, there's certainly no shortage of lovely places to celebrate.

But wherever you've chosen to get married, I believe your ceremony should be every bit as personal as the rest of your wedding day.

I'm Karen, a wedding celebrant and registered officiant, creating personalised wedding ceremonies for couples throughout County Down and across Northern Ireland.

Whether you're imagining something romantic and heartfelt, a relaxed ceremony with a little humour, or a lovely mixture of both, we'll work together to create something that feels completely natural to you.

And if you're not quite sure what you'd like your ceremony to include, that's absolutely fine too!

We'll have a proper chat, explore your ideas and work out what suits the two of you.

As a registered officiant with the General Register Office in Northern Ireland, I can also conduct legally recognised wedding ceremonies, and I'll guide you through the relevant legal requirements so you know exactly what's involved.

Because your ceremony should be something you look forward to, not another thing to worry about!

Some Lovely Places to Get Married in County Down

County Down really is spoilt for choice when it comes to wedding venues. From beautiful country estates and historic buildings to coastal settings with spectacular views, there's something to suit just about every kind of wedding.

Slieve Donard in Newcastle is a gorgeous choice, with the Mourne Mountains on one side and the Irish Sea on the other. It's certainly a setting that makes an impression!

And then there's Rocky Mountain Cottage, tucked away in the Mourne Mountains between Rostrevor and Hilltown. With its beautiful mountain backdrop, charming cottage and lovely indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces, it's a fabulous choice for couples looking for something a little different, with a relaxed, personal feel.

Then there's The Carriage Rooms at Montalto in Ballynahinch, with its beautiful stone buildings, gardens and lovely countryside surroundings.

Larchfield Estate, near Lisburn, is another wonderful option, particularly if you love the idea of a country estate wedding with a beautiful barn and plenty of character.

For something a little different, Orange Tree House in Greyabbey sits overlooking Strangford Lough. With its historic stone building and beautiful waterside views, it's a lovely setting for a personal wedding ceremony.

And if you're looking towards Bangor, there's Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, with its stylish interiors and woodland surroundings.

Or perhaps Tullyveery House, near Killyleagh, is more your style, with its country house, gardens and charming courtyard setting.

Of course, you might have somewhere completely different in mind, and that's absolutely fine too.

Whether you're getting married in a grand hotel, a beautiful barn or somewhere small and intimate, I'd love to help you create a ceremony that feels completely right for the two of you.

Because wherever you choose to say your vows, it's the people, the promises and those lovely personal moments that make your ceremony so special.

A Ceremony That Feels Like the Two of You

There's something lovely about a wedding ceremony where you can look around the room, see everyone smiling and think, "Yes, that's exactly us!"

And that's what I want for you.

Your ceremony doesn't have to follow a particular formula. It can be romantic, full of laughter, wonderfully simple or a little bit of everything.

Perhaps you'd love to include a handfasting, a unity candle or a special moment involving your children or family. Or maybe you'd prefer to keep things simple, with your vows, your rings and a few carefully chosen words.

We'll talk through your ideas, and I'll help you decide what feels right, without adding things just for the sake of it.

I'll write your ceremony personally, so it reflects your relationship, your personalities and the things that matter to you both.

And when your wedding day arrives, I'll be there to guide you through it all, making sure you feel comfortable, relaxed and able to enjoy every moment.

After all, you've enough to be thinking about on your wedding morning without worrying about what you're supposed to say or do during the ceremony!

You're in Good Hands

After more than 30 years working in hospitality, I've learned that weddings are about much more than making sure everything happens at the right time.

They're about people, emotions, excitement and all those little moments that make the day memorable.

I spent over 21 years at Ballymascanlon, first as Wedding Coordinator and later as General Manager, so I've been involved in more weddings than I could possibly count!

And believe me, that experience comes in very handy when I'm conducting a ceremony.

I know how to keep things organised without making them feel formal, how to put nervous couples at ease and how to deal with the unexpected without making a fuss.

Most importantly, I want you to feel that you've someone beside you who genuinely cares about your wedding and will look after you both.

Whether you're planning a wedding in the Mourne Mountains, along the County Down coastline or in one of its beautiful country estates, I'll bring that same care, attention and calm approach to your ceremony.

So when the moment comes, you can concentrate on enjoying it. I'll look after the rest of the ceremony.

Let's Have a Chat About Your Wedding

So, you've found your venue in County Down, you've got a date in mind, and now you're looking for someone to make your wedding ceremony feel that little bit special.

I'd love to hear what you're planning!

Whether it's a romantic ceremony overlooking Strangford Lough, a relaxed celebration in the Mourne Mountains or a lovely gathering with family and friends somewhere in between, we can create something that feels just right for you both.

You don't need to have all the details worked out before getting in touch. We can have a chat about your ideas, what matters to you and how you'd like your ceremony to feel.

And if you've a hundred questions, that's absolutely fine too!

Tell me a little about your wedding plans, and we'll take it from there.

I'd love to hear from you.
