Ceremonies for life’s most meaningful moments
Wedding Celebrant in County Louth - Legal & Personalised Ceremonies
County Louth may be Ireland’s smallest county, but it’s overflowing with charm - from the medieval streets of Carlingford to the tranquil Cooley Peninsula, elegant country houses and historic castles. Whether you dream of a romantic castle wedding, a relaxed outdoor ceremony or a modern celebration filled with personality, I’ll help you create a ceremony that feels genuine, joyful and completely you. As a registered wedding celebrant and solemniser, I perform legal marriages, vow renewals, commitment ceremonies and elopements across Louth and beyond blending warmth, storytelling and a calm guiding hand to make the experience effortless.
Where Can You Legally Marry in Louth?
Under Irish law, a legal wedding must take place in a venue that is open to the public and accessible for inspection. Private homes and gardens, while lovely, unfortunately don’t meet these requirements.
You can read more about venue criteria directly from the HSE’s official guidance on legal wedding venues in Ireland.
The good news? County Louth is filled with breathtaking, fully-approved venues that blend natural beauty with timeless atmosphere. Some of my favourites include:
Darver Castle – romantic and private, with ancient stone walls and candlelit halls.
Bellingham Castle – elegant and historic, perfect for a classic celebration by the river.
Seagrave Barns – rustic charm meets festival-style fun.
The Four Seasons, Carlingford – stunning sea views and vibrant village energy.
The Carrickdale Hotel – set among mountains, ideal for cross-border celebrations.
Ballymascanlon Hotel & Golf Resort – a Louth landmark with sweeping gardens and grand interiors.
I’ll guide you through every step - from choosing your venue to ensuring it meets all legal standards so you can focus on enjoying the magic of the day.
Answers for Your Ceremony Journey
Your Louth Wedding Questions, Answered
From legal requirements and outdoor venues to booking timelines and ceremony details, here you’ll find clear answers to the most common questions couples ask when planning their wedding in County Louth. If you’d like more guidance, I’m always happy to chat through your plans and help you feel confident about every step.
Can we have our legal wedding outdoors?
Yes, provided the outdoor space is attached to an approved venue and meets the HSE’s criteria for public accessibility and safety.
What’s the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?
A registrar works for the State and conducts civil ceremonies only in designated offices or approved venues. As a celebrant and registered solemniser, I can perform legal weddings anywhere in Ireland or Northern Ireland — indoors or outdoors with full personalisation.
How far in advance should we book our celebrant?
Ideally 9–12 months before your date, especially for weekends or summer weddings, though I’ll always do my best to accommodate last-minute enquiries.
